Let’s Not Forget, On This Day, That Reagan/Bush Engineered the Iran Hostage Crisis

The Iran Hostage crisis represents much more than the capture of US embassy staff in retaliation for Carter letting the Shah come to the U.S.; but a profound shift in US and global politics. It started a set of events that completely transformed the U.S. politically, Iran’s neighborhood (Central Asia, And Arabia), resulted in the consolidation of the Mullah’s regime in Tehran, and affected the lives of virtually everyone in the world in some shape of form.

  1. October Surprise: It’s now known as the October Surprise of 1980. But there is NO question that William Casey (then Reagan’s Campaign Director, later CIA Director) was deeply involved a deal to keep the Iran Embassy Hostages in captivity to humiliate Carter and win the Presidential election.

  • Iran-Contra: There is NO question that the Republican Party set up a direct link to Iran in 1980, and exploited this link later in the Iran-Contra affair – selling arms for profit to ‘help’ the Sandinistas in Nicaragua.

Here is a brief summary of the Iran- Contra Case – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccZkcFEyUyc

  • War on Drugs: What is less known about all this that the Republican Party completely re-engineered US electoral map – passed laws making any drug conviction a 20 year mandatory sentence, and then they brought in Cocaine to the US and distributed it in key states like Florida, Ohio and California (Freeway Ricki Ross one of their distributors has now ‘confessed’); and with this increased US prison population by a factor of 10 (with more prisoners in the U.S. than the total number of all prisoners in advances economies combined).

  • Republican Takeover of Congress: And if you are a convict, you can’t vote. They eliminated millions from voter rolls and brought on the “Gingrich” revolution (they took over Congress).

  • Iran-Iraq War: Let’s NOT forget that when Jimmy Carter realized that the Republicans had set up a back channel to the mullahs in Iran; he engineered the invasion of Iran by Saddam Hussein. Alexander Haig’s memo (provided in this documentary) clearly states “Carter gave Baghdad “a green light to launch the war against Iran through Fahd.” Had there been no Iran-Iraq war there would NOT have been two more Iraq wars (US invasions etc.), and likely no Syrian Crisis, no ISIS!

Let me repeat the statement: “The Iran Hostage crisis therefore represents much more than the capture of US embassy staff in retaliation for Carter letting the Shah come to the U.S.; but a profound shift in US and global politics. It started a set of events that completely transformed the U.S. politically, Iran’s neighborhood (Central Asia, And Arabia), resulted in the consolidation of the Mullah’s regime in Tehran, and affected the lives of virtually everyone in the world in some shape of form.”
